Table Top Exercises

Tabletop exercises are discussion-based facilitated events. Team members meet in an informal setting to discuss their roles during an emergency and their responses to a particular situation. They work together as a team to meet an emergencies challenge. The facilitator guides participants through a discussion of one or more scenarios. The duration depends upon the audience, the event exercised and objectives. Many tabletop exercises take only a few hours to conduct, making them cost-effective tools to validate plans and response capabilities.

Tasking staff with plausible, real world emergencies is the first step in validating your emergency plans and training. Their actions and reactions reveal a great deal during exercises.

This is also one of the first steps toward Functional and Full Scale Exercises.
